Amy L. Hodge, PA-C grew up in Roanoke, Virginia. She received her undergraduate degree in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise with a minor in Chemistry at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. During college and prior to her studies as a Physician Assistant, Amy worked as a medical assistant for a Dermatologist in Salem, Virginia. This is when she found a special interest in the field of Dermatology.

In 2001, she received her Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. She then worked in an emergency room in Virginia Beach for a year before moving to Charlotte, North Carolina and then to Atlanta to practice Dermatology. She joined Skin Cancer Specialists, P.C. in 2010 with 8 years of prior Dermatology experience - the last seven of those years with Olansky Dermatology Associates in Atlanta (Buckhead). Amy practices general Dermatology and Dermatologic surgery.

Amy is licensed by the Georgia Composite Board of Medical Examiners and maintains certification with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, and the Georgia Dermatology Physician Assistants organization.

While away from work, Amy's passion is travel. She has been to Europe, Mexico, Central America, Africa, and Southeast Asia. She also enjoys working out, reading, and spending time in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

What is a Physician Assistant (PA)?

Physician Assistants (PA's) are health care professionals licensed to practice medicine with physician supervision. PA's are educated and trained in the medical model, which is designed to complement physician training, at nationally accredited Physician Assistant programs. Following graduation from an accredited program, a PA must pass a national examination in order to become certified by the NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) and in order to receive a state license to practice. PA's conduct physical examinations, order and interpret tests, and provide a broad range of both diagnostic and therapeutic services that include writing prescriptions and performing procedures.
