Cutera® excel v

Lasers have greatly improved the treatment of vascular and pigmented lesions. These skin concerns can now be treated quickly with minimum downtime, using lasers like the Excel V by Cutera, Inc.

What is the Excel V?

The 532 KTP is a high power green laser that is ideal for treating superficial pigmented lesions such as facial telangiectasia. The long pulsed ND: YAG laser penetrates deeper, and is therefore an effective treatment for pigmented lesions such as leg veins.

The Excel V by Cutera can treat a wide range of vascular and benign pigmented skin conditions including, rosacea, brown pigmentation, port wine stains, sunspots, cherry angiomas, hemangioma, and spider veins.

How does it work?

The Excel V targets and destroys the abnormal blood vessels responsible for the vascular condition, or the pigmented cells. After these abnormal cells are eliminated, normal skin tone and color will be restored.  The laser has an adjustable spot size, and this makes it easier to treat both deep and superficial lesions.

How many treatments do I need?

It typically takes 2-3 treatments spaced 2-4 weeks apart, to achieve the desired improvement. However, the number of treatments will vary based on the size and color of the vascular lesion.

What should you expect?

Patients are advised to avoid sun exposure after treatment, and also use a wide spectrum sunblock for added protection.
